FASDAY
"On
the ninth minute of the ninth hour of the ninth day of the ninth month,
we ask the world to remember that during the nine months of pregnancy,
alcohol can be very dangerous to the baby. We also ask the world to
remember the millions of people worldwide who will struggle lifelong
with intellectual disabilities caused by prenatal alcohol."
"Does
the Flap of a Butterfly's Wings in Brazil set off a Tornado in
Texas?" With a quote reminding us that small actions can have large
effects so
began a world wide movement that is growing year by year into a clarion
call to build awareness of the devastation caused by FASD, Fetal Alcohol
Spectrum Disorders.
Each
year, on September 9th, we join together with concerned people everywhere to observe International
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Awareness Day by ringing the FAS Bell Concordance
and with the "Minute
of Reflection" at 9:09 a.m.
Join
with CalFAS as we work alongside volunteers around the world, and carry
out a few simple activities that will encourage awareness of "the
invisible disability" in your family, your community and your
state.
Remember
each action is a little ripple of enlightenment that travels outward to
reach others who can then begin their own ripple and reach more until
all hear. You will make a difference to many and may just have a little
fun in the process!
Please
help us spread the word, NineZero, nine months, zero alcohol and remember
the CalFAS message:
When it comes to alcohol and pregnancy, there is:
No safe time,
No safe amount,
No safe kind.
If you're pregnant, don't drink.
If you
drink, don't get pregnant

If you
print these out yourself on photo paper at "best" resolution

can have large posters printed for just a few dollars at your local
